If you have been prescribed any pain medications or muscle relaxers take them before your exam as instructed. Any other medications should be taken as recommended, unless your physician informs you otherwise. Your Physician will receive the results of your exam within 24 hours of completion.

MRI
Exam time for an MRI is usually between 45 minutes to one hour. You may bring someone in the room while you are having your exam. There are generally no dietary restrictions indicated for M.R.I. exams unless you are having an abdominal M.R.I. then you may be asked not to eat six hours prior to your appointment time. ALTEC’s High Field Open MRI can comfortably accommodate patients up to 500 pounds. Because of the magnetic field, you will be asked to leave the following items in a safe place outside the scan room:

•    Hair Pins •    Other Metal Objects •    Credit cards •    Keys •    Coins •    Jewelry •    Watches •    Glasses

CT
Exam time for a Cat Scan (CT) is generally 30 minutes to one hour. CT exams may be done with and without contrast injections, depending on physician instructions. ALTEC’s Multi-slice CT can comfortably accommodate patients up to 450 Pounds.

X-Ray
Exam time for X-Ray is generally 15-30 minutes. ALTEC’s Digital X-ray can comfortably accommodate patients up to 600 pounds.
